Debate on Umpire’s Controversial Waist-high no-ball decision and 3 byes

Pakistani fans and ex-crickets are not happy with the umpire’s no-ball decision. They accused that they made a decision after Kohli had asked for it. Former Australian cricket Brad Hogg also twitted about the no-ball decision. 

Brad Hogg twitted

“Why was no ball not reviewed, then how can it not be a dead ball when Kohli was bowled on a free hit.”

“The little rib-tickler for today! No ball above the waist high causes a bit of discussion, because we need a proper anatomy lesson what’s the actual definition of a waist?”

Pakistan Legendary players Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, and Shoaib Malik also question the umpire’s no-ball decision. They felt that the umpire made a blunder by not using the technology.

Waqar Younis said “I don’t want to say it’s a no-ball or not. I don’t want to discuss any kind of controversy. When the ball is about waist-high, the leg umpire’s first reaction is always he extends his right hand for a no-ball because he is looking at the batsman, he is looking at the trajectory of the ball also if he sees the ball is over the top of the head, he gave the wide. There is a lot of crowd and noise so the voice cannot be heard that’s why the umpire raised their hand for no-ball or wide so the front umpire knows.

But if you see the last replay when Virat hit the ball leg umpire did not raise his hand for no ball and he turn around and watched the ball and when Virat asked for it then he gave no ball. He further added I still believe it’s Virat’s right to ask for it because any bats will do the same. Because he did not raise his hand on his very first reaction so he should go to the third umpire and let him make the decision.”

Wasim Akram said, “It’s the big game, and also you have the technology for tracking so why you are not using it”. He also read the new law for 3 byes “if a batsman is caught on the free hit he can run and score will be added to his total and if he is bowled with an edge then he can take runs which will be added to his total as well but if he gets bowled without an edge he can run but runs will go into an extra so hence umpire gave the byes.”

Shoaib Malik said, “I am completely agreed with Wasim and Waqar if he did not give the no-ball when the bowl is about to a waist height so you should go to the third umpire and let him make the right decision”.
