Babar Azam become sixth Pakistani to surpass 1000 Test runs

Babar Azam make his debut for Pakistan in international cricket against Zimbabwe on 31st May 2015 at Lahore in an ODI match after one year he made his T20 international debut on 7th September 2016 against England at Old Trafford Cricket Stadium after his brilliant performance against West Indies in 3 matches ODI series in 2016 at UAE where he hit his first ODI century and 3 consecutive centuries and become the highest runs scores in 3 ODI series he gets a chance to debut in Test Series against West Indies on 13 October 2017 at Dubai Cricket Stadium. Now he led Pakistan in all three formats and this year in 2022 Babar Azam become sixth Pakistani to surpass 1000 Test runs.

Babar Azam’s 1000 Test runs in a calendar year

Babar Azam becomes the sixth Pakistani batsman to score 1000 runs or more in a calendar year. He surpasses the 1000 runs during the third Test against England in Karachi. This year in 2022 he scored 1009 Test runs in 8 matches and 15 innings with an average of 67.26 and he also scored 196 runs against Australia which is the highest number of runs in his Test International career.

Babar Azam who currently scored 1009 runs in 15 innings, become the first Pakistani batter in the last six years to score 1000 or more runs in a calendar year and the fourth batter to reach the milestone in 2022 but he has two more innings left this year as Pakistan is scheduled to play a two-match Test series against New Zealand one match is scheduled this year from 26 December 2022. So, he still has a chance to end the year 2022 as the leading test runs scorer. The star batter also moves to the second spot in the International Test ranking with 875 points.

Babar only player in the top 5 ranking in all formats

Babar who is captain of the Pakistan national cricket team in all three formats considered among the finest batters in world cricket. He is also the only International Cricketer in the world to be in the top five ranking in all 3 formats. He is number one in the ODI batting ranking with 890 rating points, second in the Test batting ranking with 875 rating points, and fourth in the T20 International batting ranking with 778 rating points.

Pakistan batter who scores 1000 Test runs in a calendar year

Before Babar, only five Pakistani cricketers scored 1000 Test runs or more in a calendar year. For Pakistan, only Younis Khan scored more than 1000 Test runs twice in his career and all other players achieved the milestone once in their career Inzamam-ul-Haq is the other batter who scored 1000 runs twice in his career but once he scored more than 1000 Test runs and in 2005 he scored only 1000 Test runs in a calendar year. Mohammad Yousaf holds the record for most Test runs in a calendar year in the World and Mohsin khan was the first Pakistani who scored more than 1000 runs in a calendar year.

Mohsin Khan scored 1029 Test runs in 1982 in 10 matches and 17 innings, with 3 not-out innings, with an average of 73.5, the highest runs of 200, with 4 centuries and 4 half centuries.

Inzamam-ul-Haq

Inzamam-ul-Haq scored 1090 Test runs in 2000 in 12 matches and 19 innings, with 1 not-out inning, with an average of 60.56, highest runs of 142, with 4 centuries and 4 half centuries. He also scored 1000 runs in 2005 in 8 matches and 15 innings, with 3 not-out innings, with an average of 83.33, the highest runs of 184, with 4 centuries and 6 half centuries.
